The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character — that is the goal of true education.

Our Goal:

Education.

UVCS glorifies God by partnering with families to provide a Classical and
Christ-Centered Education.

Education that:

  • is committed to the Classical and Christian ideals of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.

  • Inspires Depth and Wisdom.

  • Trains to Think and Speak and Lead with Eloquence.

  • Cultivates Character.

Education is not a subject, and it does not deal in subjects. It is instead the transfer of a way of life.

Why UVCS?

Classical education at UVCS is inherently different in philosophy from the public schools in that the Bible is our supreme authority. We teach HOW to learn, rather than WHAT to learn. Together with parents, students learn firstly how to seek God and then love lifelong learning. Our small class sizes and dedicated faculty guide young minds into godly Christian leaders for today and of tomorrow.

Our Mission

Upper Valley Christian School’s mission is to partner with families in providing a Christ-centered education, in the classical tradition, that prepares students to live purposefully and intelligently for the glory of God and for the good of others.

UVCS came into existence as a ministry of the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene.

teacher - student ratio

Small classroom size and a low student to teacher ratio make it possible for staff to connect with students and know their specific needs.

Our Programs

UVCS has a strong academic program with direct teacher instruction in small classroom settings. Curriculum and instruction are presented from a Christian perspective, modeled by staff and explicitly taught to students.

The Ancient and Medieval school curriculum taught three basic tools of learning:

  1. Grammar

The fundamental rules and core knowledge of each subject.

  2. Logic

The ordered and logical relationship of particulars in each subject.

  3. Rhetoric

The art of persuasive speech and writing in each subject.

These three basic tools of learning (Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric) were called the Trivium. The Trivium is the heart of classical education. These three stages of learning interact, each one with the other, and complement the way that God created children to learn.
